Visiting Wake Forest University

Wake Forest University: Where Students and Families Thrive Together

I had the opportunity to visit Wake Forest in November.  It’s about finding a place that challenges the mind and nurtures the spirit. Wake Forest University, located in the charming city of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, offers just that—a community that feels like home while paving the way for a bright future.

A Tradition of Academic Excellence

At Wake Forest, academics are more than just classes; they invite growth. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 11:1, professors know students by name and encourage them to explore new ideas. The university’s liberal arts foundation blends seamlessly with professional programs, ensuring students leave with knowledge and real-world skills.

Standout programs in Business, Law, and Health Sciences attract students from around the globe, while research opportunities abound, even for undergraduates. Whether your interests lie in environmental studies or entrepreneurship, Wake Forest offers the tools to explore your passions.

A Campus That Feels Like Home

The moment you step onto Wake Forest’s campus, you’ll feel the warmth. Nestled amidst rolling hills and stunning Georgian architecture, the university radiates charm. But it’s not just the beauty—it’s the people. From the enthusiastic tour guides to the supportive staff, everyone is invested in making students and families feel welcome. I  was pleasantly surprised by how warm it was in the middle of November. I didn’t need a sweater.

For parents, knowing that their students are supported by a community that values safety, well-being, and belonging brings peace of mind. Resources like counseling services, mentorship programs, and dedicated advisors ensure that every student has what they need to succeed.

Life Beyond the Classroom

At Wake Forest, students are encouraged to pursue their interests, make lifelong friends, and create memories. The university boasts over 200 student organizations, a robust Greek life, and exciting intramural sports.

Preparing for the Journey Ahead

College is not just about the next four years but about the following decades. Wake Forest’s motto, Pro Humanitate (“For Humanity”), reflects its commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals ready to make a difference.

The Office of Personal and Career Development offers guidance from day one, connecting students with internships, alumni networks, and career coaching. Graduates leave Wake Forest with a strong purpose, prepared to lead and contribute meaningfully to the world.

A Note to Parents

Sending your child to college is a leap of faith, but at Wake Forest, you’ll find a community that values family partnerships. The university keeps parents informed with regular updates, provides support through orientation and family weekends, and prioritizes communication every step of the way.
